Silas Boaz Today

We're learning more and more as we go. Some doctors know more about different things. The nurses mean well, but they do not always know what the doctors know. Boaz could go home in a few days, if all goes well. The chances of everything going well are close to zero. I could insist, and they would let me take him. I could do the treatments in Pensacola, I could go home in between. But, when he gets a fever, and he will, or his blood counts go down, and they are, then I want to be where Silas can get the care he needs. This is THE Children's Cancer Hospital. They are equipped to do things here that they can't do elsewhere. I miss my boys at home, but I realize that's what the Lord has for us right now. We will take it as it comes.
This is a physical battle. It is also a spiritual battle. Satan does not want us to serve God. He does not want us to be a bright light shining in dark world. But, that is our reasonable service. I love my LORD more each day. He is still merciful and gracious.

  3. Hi Karen,
We are praying for Silas and your family during this difficult test. I have also sent the request on to our home church, and people in our church here in Amsterdam are praying too. You are right, it is MUCH more than just a physical battle. Our enemy does NOT want you to go to the Congo, and he is gonna try to stop you. As our former pastor used to tell us: Don't forget in the darkness what you knew to be true in the light.
"So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun.
When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him." Isaiah 59:19
Many a time during family devotions...when it seemed like the walls of oppression were closing in upon us, Bro. Jake has encouraged us with this verse.
Love from your sister in Christ,
    Leanne

  4. Hello Karen, My name is Sally Owen and I am the pianist at First Bible Baptist Church. You visited our church recently and your husband's message convicted my heart and made me make a change in my life for the better. I wanted to let you know that. I was devastated to hear of your baby's illness, and wanted you to know that our church, my family and many others are praying for all of you. We love you and I don't know what I would have done if your husband had not preached that message. I want you to know that meeting you has changed my life and watching you now has given me a new perspective on the life that we have in Christ. Thanks, sister and GOD BLESS YOU.
    In Christ,
    Sally Owen
